St Pete Run Fest, St Pete’s hometown running festival held on November 10-12, and The Body Electric Yoga Company have teamed up to help the St Petersburg Free Clinic (SPFC) go green with a donation of thousands of reusable grocery bags.  The bags will be given to clients of SPFC’s We Help FRESH pantry to curtail the use of single use plastic bags.  As part of SPFC’s green initiative, clients are encouraged to bring reusable bags every time they visit the Indoor Choice pantry.  The SPFC We Help FRESH pantry offers nutritious produce, meats, food staples, and hygiene items for FREE to any Pinellas County resident in need through an indoor choice option and two drive-thru options.

The bags are a collaboration with The Body Electric Yoga Company and were designed by Keith Jordan, co-owner of St Pete Run Fest and feature a St Pete-inspired backdrop of sunshine, palm trees, and pelicans.  “In addition to removing single-use plastic bags from our beautiful city, we hope the reusable bags will be a reminder to SPFC’s clients that their community cares about them,” says Keith Jordan.

When you participate in the St Pete Half Marathon, 10K, or 5K, we will donate for each mile you run to the St Petersburg Free Clinic to help feed our neighbors in need.  This year with the support of The Body Electric Yoga Company our goal is to provide meals for 5,000+ families.

SPFC’s CEO, Jennifer Yeagley, shares, “The collaboration between St. Pete Run Fest and The Body Electric Yoga Company is truly an example of serving people and feeding compassion.  We are grateful to benefit from their efforts to engage the community to support SPFC’s sustainability efforts while also letting our neighbors in need know the St. Pete Community is here to help in their time of need. The Body Electric Yoga Company’s co-founder Jenny Miller added, “This partnership is what we’re all about: creating a healthier, happier, and greener city, through working together.”

SPFC’s We Help FRESH Pantry serves an average of 30,000 individuals per month, or over 8,000 households, half of which are families with children.  To learn more about SPFC and/or to volunteer or donate visit thespfc.org.
